There are a multitude of situations that can arise and it is certainly not possible to carry all the items available. However, apart from your mobile phone and cash, what should you always carry when travelling? If you are going somewhere on a trip always remember to drink and carry a bottle of liquid. You shouldn't be caught out by the weather either. A quick summer thunderstorm can come in a matter of minutes. So keep in mind that you won't enjoy your trip to the max in wet clothes. An umbrella or raincoat takes up little space but can do a great service. Last but not least, remember that accidents can always happen. A travel first aid kit is a godsend at that point.

Better to have it and not have to use it than not have it and need it. Little things that can solve or speed up situations that no one wants to experience with their suitcase. Losing a suitcase can be a big complication. Describing your suitcase to the airline afterwards can be a hassle.

Yeah, that's right. A little something in the form of an address label, tag, name tag or whatever you want to call it can make a huge difference in how an airline is able to identify and return your suitcase.
Protecting the items inside your luggage is then a given. Additional locks and straps add to the protection of your possessions from pickpockets. Remember, opportunity makes the thief. That's why it's better to add a lock than to deal with the theft of items from your suitcase afterwards.
Especially when you are going on an extended vacation, the need for additional smaller luggage for operational travel at the vacation spot is necessary without taking up unnecessary space. Whether you need to pack for the beach or a hike, a foldable or drawstring backpack can be great.
